Working to Bridge the Digital Divide
Senator Josh Becker’s bill to help K-12 public school districts address the digital divide cleared an important hurdle April 14, when the Senate Education Committee unanimously passed his SB 767. The bill would create the statewide Digital Education Equity Program, called DEEP, to equitably provide education technology, network and professional development support to all California public school districts. The committee’s bipartisan 7-0 vote allows SB 767 to move forward to the Senate Appropriations Committee, which will conduct a fiscal review. Find out more about SB 767 here and here.
