Menlo Park, CA – Today Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) issued the following statement on the termination without cause Santa Clara County Superintendent of Education Mary Ann Dewan:

“I am dismayed and saddened by the abrupt dismissal of Superintendent Mary Ann Dewan by the Santa Clara County Board of Education during a closed-door meeting. I am equally disheartened by the lack of transparency in firing one of our region’s most dedicated educational leaders.

Sacramento, CA—Governor Gavin signed into law a pioneering privacy and consumer protection bill authored by Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) that will establish a first-of-its-kind right to privacy for an individual’s neural data. SB 1223 protects an individual’s neural data from misuse by giving individuals the right to tell companies that their data is not to be shared and is not for sale.

Sacramento, CA—Today Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law the Interim Housing Act (SB 1395) authored by Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park). This bill addresses California’s housing and homelessness needs by expanding access to interim housing on a statewide level. 




Sacramento, CA – In a pivotal decision today, the Legislature approved SB 1374, authored by Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park), which undoes damage caused by a California Public Utilities Commission decision last fall. This bill, the only high priority solar legislation remaining this session, represents a significant step forward in California's clean energy landscape by restoring fair treatment for all utility customers with on-site solar generation.
