SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Senator Josh Becker released the following statement in response to President Trump’s executive orders on climate:
President Trump's executive orders withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and revoking international climate commitments are short sighted and will hurt the American people, American competitiveness and are an affront to American Values. Abandoning these agreements jeopardizes decades of progress and leaves our planet more vulnerable to the escalating climate crisis. At a time when we are witnessing the deadly impacts of climate change – such as the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles – moving backward is not an option.
“As Chair of the Energy, Utilities, and Communications Committee, I vow to ensure that California remains a global leader in the fight against climate change, regardless of federal inaction. While Washington turns its back on the planet, California will push forward with bold climate solutions, clean energy innovation, and sustainability efforts. The stakes are too high, and the future of our planet depends on us.”
